Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy's Parade

Sweet, Melissa. (2011). Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy’s Parade. New York: Houghton Mifflin Books for Children.

This is the true story of a man (Tony Sarg) who strted inventing things ever since he was a little boy.  He would later make mechanical marionettes that performed as if they were real actors on broadway.   But that was not all.  He would later work for Macy’s Deparment store and come up with the idea of building a balloon puppet that performed every year in Macy’s parade in New York celebrating Thanksgiving Day.  These Gigantic Balloons were manageable to move as they were maipulated through ropes that were attached below. This would make the crowd cheer for more.
This is a book that can help  inspire a child’s innovative mind to create anything they put their minds to.
