Giovanni, Nikki. (2005). Rosa. New York: Henry Holt and Company.
This picture book covers a brief
autobiography of Rosa Parks and her important role in history and how it would
change America forever. Rosa lives her
life with her husband, her ill mother and keeps to herself. However, when she
challenges the societal norms at a difficult time period she becomes a
historical figure who helped gain equality amongst the black community and
stands for what was right then and now.
This book is written for young children but
yet can be a llittle confusing as it leaves out certain parts. It
gives parents and educators the freedom to fill in the gaps in explaining parts
that were left out.
